Representative of the Brussels Capital Region to the EU, Brussels
Geert DE PROOST is born in Asse (Belgium) on 19 November 1956. He has obtained a Master in Law at the University of Leuven in 1979 as well as a study certificate on International and European Law in 1980 at the Free University of Brussels.
From 1981 until 1995 and from 1999 to 2001 he has worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs successively at the United Nations Department, the Juridical Department and in the Diplomatic Service. In 1995 he joined the Cabinet of the Minister for External Relations from the Brussels Capital Region until 1999. Since 2001 is Representative of Brussels Capital Region to the European Union in charge of Competitiveness (Internal Market, Industry and Research) and Institutional Affairs.
